Why go to a Compounding Pharmacy?

"New regulation will limit where patients' can receive compounding medications"

As of 2021, the new regulation that was announced by Ontario College of Pharmacists in adopting the NAPRA Standards for Compounding of Non-Sterile Preparations will begin to be enforced. What does this mean? This means that unless the pharmacies have implemented very specific set of criteria in knowledge training, facilities, and equipment investments, not all pharmacies will be permitted to perform compounding services for the patients. Aside from this, compounding is a separate specialty discipline that requires additional training and apprenticeship after formal education in pharmacy. Not all pharmacies, especially if they are not focused in compounding will likely possess the necessary knowledge to provide full range of products.
